Its a great pity author of this book Alexey Masitch (1945—2006) has left us for the best of the worlds so soon. He served with Russian state security forensics structures, worked for The Bank of Russia and number of commercial banks as well, and was one of the best Russian experts in the field of paper money counterfeiting. His methodic on discerning of fake banknotes is widely regarded as benchmark of the trade.
In his last book Alexey Masitch places under close scrutiny most interesting cases of the US dollars counterfeiting, different forgery methods and ways of security elements imitation. Prominent place is devoted to $50 and $100 “super notes” counterfeiting 1977 to 2003 series.
Each US dollars series, being almost identical in print for one nominal, vary however in attributes and security elements. All these peculiarities were thoroughly examined by Alexey Masitch and laid a base for his recommendations on the evaluation of the US banknotes identity in the time scale from 1928 to 2006. Such recommendations accounts for a significant part of the well illustrated publication.
