On March 17, 2008 the Central Bank of Bahrain introduced new Bahrain banknotes into circulation.
The new banknotes are being issued in the existing denominations of 1/2, 1, 5, 10 and 20 Bahraini Dinars (BHD). All five denominations of banknotes are of uniform size (measuring 154mm x 74mm). The banknotes feature inscriptions in Arabic (on the front) and in English (on the back) which reflects the significant changes in country's financial system. The Decree on establishment of the Central Bank of Bahrain was signed by Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, King of Bahrain, in September 2006.

The bolivar fuerte has become the new currency of Venezuela since January 1, 2008, after the bolivar was redenominated at a ratio of 1 to 1000 and renamed. The Central Bank is promoting the new banknotes with the slogan: «A strong economy, a strong bolivar, a strong country».

Experts at the European Central Bank believe that issuing 1 Euro note is not reasonable. However, France has recently begun a campaign supporting the programme.

The People's Bank of China in its official statement revealed that national gold and currency reserves surpassed $1.5 trillion, increasing by 43% since 2006.

The National Bank of Azerbaijan is planning to introduce new 200 Manat banknotes into circulation within the next several years, Chairman of the National Bank of Azerbaijan Elman Rustamov said.

The National Bank of Georgia issued new date (2007) modified banknotes in the denomination of 1 and 10 Lari with the signatures of the active president of the National bank and the Minister of Finance.
In addition, the coins of a new modification in the denomination of 50 Tetri, 1 and 2 Lari were issued.

The Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) has come into force on the European continent. Experts say it may be as important as the introduction of the Euro in 2002.

The Cambodian National Bank has issued a new 2000 Riel bank note.
