22/05/2008 | BAHRAIN Central Bank of Bahrain Issues New BanknotesOn March 17, 2008 the Central Bank of Bahrain introduced new Bahrain banknotes into circulation. The new banknotes are being issued in the existing denominations of 1/2, 1, 5, 10 and 20 Bahraini Dinars (BHD). All five denominations of banknotes are of uniform size (measuring 154mm x 74mm). The banknotes feature inscriptions in Arabic (on the front) and in English (on the back) which reflects the significant changes in country's financial system. The Decree on establishment of the Central Bank of Bahrain was signed by Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, King of Bahrain, in September 2006. |

The Central Bank is promoting the new banknotes with the slogan: «A strong economy, a strong bolivar, a strong country».
