Authentication of Banknotes and Their Legal Tender Status

The manual contains the recommendations on banknote authentication, developed by the experts of the Bank of Russia in the framework of education methods for cashiers and banking experts. The author focuses on each stage of banknote production (banknote paper, printing methods, inks), criteria for legal tender and non-legal tender, counterfeiting methods applied by forgers imitating security features, including machine-readable features.

This fourth supplemented edition includes a new section on the Chinese yuan of the People’s Bank of China. The author analyses security complex of the Bank of Russia’s notes of 2010, the 100-dollar note of the NextGen series and the banknotes of the Europa series. The manual is intended for banknote authentication experts and cashiers in credit institutions.
