Denmark Introducing 1000-Krone Banknote

13.05.2011

On May 24, 2011, the country introduced a renewed 1000-krona banknote.

The 1000-krone bill finished the renewal of the Bridges of Denmark series of the national currency. The face of the new banknote depicts the bridge connecting the Sprogo and Zealand islands, while the back shows the Sun Chariot, an archeological monument of the Bronze Age discovered in the northwest part of Zealand.

The security features of the highest denomination will include the most cutting-edge developments such as Motion â„¢. The renewed series of the Danish banknotes with upgraded security features was opened with the 50-krone banknote issued in August 2009. In May 2010, the renewed 100-krone banknote entered circulation, and the 200-krone banknote was issued on October 9, 2010. Finally, on February 15, 2011, the 500-krone banknote was introduced in circulation.
