World Banknote Summit 24-26 February 2020. Prague, Czech

02.08.2019

In a series of interviews with central banks and industry experts, the organisers of the World Banknote Summit are identifying topics that are of most relevance to central banks, state printing works and the banknote community. This is allowing the creation of a captivating agenda and the start of the search for expert speakers. The process is already well under way and various representatives from the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), central banks, state printing works, universities, commercial banks, supermarkets, law enforcement agencies and other entities have confirmed to speak. They will bring fresh views and inspiring insights to the table, with thought-provoking perspectives for participants.

The topics on the agenda will address practical issues related to banknote design, production and circulation management. Furthermore, there will also be live accounts from heavy-duty users as well as commercial banks, an update on counterfeits, a close examination of alternative payment methods and additional presentations focusing on the challenges of currency management. Beat Attinger, founder of the World Banknote Summit, commented, “We are pleased to present an exciting agenda that spans a range of important topics once again in 2020. Currency management is becoming increasingly complex. New payment solutions, supported by increasingly powerful technology and infrastructure, are affecting people’s payment behavior and, therefore, the payment landscape. In this context, the question about the role of cash, today and in the future, has taken centre stage. These new solutions and their potential impact on the payment landscape will be examined at the World Banknote Summit.”

Hands-on immersion sessions and workshops

Based on the positive feedback received at the World Banknote Summit 2018, immersion sessions, in which specific topics are examined in depth in smaller groups, will be an important element on the agenda in 2020 too. The conference programme will be rounded off by a series of hands-on workshops on a variety of topics. These practical sessions run in parallel and look at different topics, thus giving the participants the opportunity to choose their preferred topic.

Plentiful networking opportunities

The World Banknote Summit is designed as a platform for valuable exchange among the attendees in between the sessions. To this end, the coffee and lunch breaks offer ample time for networking and all registered delegates are invited to a casual dinner on the first and the second days of the conference. The familiar size of the World Banknote Summit ensures that it very easy to connect with other attendees to engage in further talks, refresh old friendships and meet new people.
